Module one: Management and co-operation - focus on you as a manager and you as a person (three days) (47753)
Management and leadership is closely associated with the person exercising authority. For this reason, the first module examines the manager himself or herself. In the first module, you will work with your own personality type, your work ethic and emotional intelligence. This is done to give you a clear picture of your “leadership space”, what governs your behaviour and communication, because modern management requires insight into oneself, balance, integrity, empathy and a sense for organisational processes.
Throughout the process you will be challenged through the encounter with course participants who have other personality types, values and approaches to work and leadership.
Benefit gained: After completing this module, you will have got to know yourself and you will have improved your ability to co-operate with people who are different from you.
Module two: Communication as a management tool and chairing of meetings - focus on youand your group, your communication and profile (three days) (47751+47754)
In this module, you will be working on communication and the coherence of your group/department.
Your ability to perceive, communicate and argue will be developed and strengthened further through establishing a framework, active listening and feedback exercises, because this has an impact on your leadership profile. Follow-up will include an analysis of the roles that youremployees fill in the group.
All these elements will ultimately be combined in the work on improving your skills in chairing meetings.
Benefit gained: After completing this module, you will be familiar with various different personality profiles characterising your staff, and you will possess new tools that you can apply to promote communication and cooperation.
Module three: Application of situation-based management - focus on how to develop your staff professionally and personally (two days) (47755)
This module teaches methods for development of talent and staff. Besides operating business, good leadership fundamentally involves creating a good working environment for staff members. This makes good business sense, and therefore we work on learning to develop your staff members in a stress-free environment.
The focus is on finding ways to achieve on-going development of your staff members through situation-based management, motivation, archetypes and leadership coaching.
Benefit gained: After completing this module, you will be able to establish and maintain good relations with your staff members and strengthening their understanding of what you expect from them.
Module four: Focus on prevention and handling of conflicts and difficult conversations (two days) (47752)
Prevention of conflict and de-escalation of conflicts already arisen is the focus of this module.
You will acquire knowledge of how conflicts arise, and how you can de-escalate or prevent conflict through your use of language, assertive behaviour and mediation.
You will also be training how to handle a “difficult conversation”, something that may unfortunately be the outcome if all else fail.
Benefit gained: After completing this module, you will be able to identify and intervene actively and positively in both potential and on-going conflicts.
Module five: Staff involvement - focus on staff involvement and change management (three days) (47750)
One important element of the Basic Management Training programme is learning that, as a manager, you are not alone. Therefore, it is important to be able to involve one’s staff members. This is the topic to be examined in this module, in which we shall also focus on managing changein the organisation.
You will learn about transition management, reflecting on and integrating the psychological working environment in a change process, and what creates good change. You put theories inrelation to changes you have yourself been part of. Involvement of staff members aims partly to promote and strengthen the ability to create relevant and forward-looking change, and partly on being able to function under possibly continuous change.
Benefit gained: After completing this module, you will be able to involve the abilities and competence of your staff members in a positive way in relevant changes in your enterprise.
In general, the teaching forms are mostly based on activity and experience. In this way, you have the opportunity to relate proactively and personally to the topics. You may also experience the use of recurring assignments or cases, fictional companies or games. You also learn a great deal from the experiences of other participants and that is why work, discussions and dialogues will often be conducted in groups.
Brief theoretical input, practical exercises, discussions, group work.
The Basic Management Program is a recognised Danish labour market program (AMU) and a qualifying course in relation to public higher education. Therefore, there is a public subsidy available for the program. This means that you are only required to pay a small fee if you are entitled to AMU support.
The management training program is aimed at managers with the appropriate educational background and vocational training level.
